Registered Research & Alumni Readers

— filed under:

Registered research and alumni readers can use the 'request item' service from the catalogue to ask for delivery of books and articles between libraries on different campuses.
Use RACER to borrow materials not owned by a U of T library.

There is a $30.00 fee for each item borrowed from outside U of T (as of September 1, 2010).

How to request

You will need

  • your 14 or 16 digit library barcode
  • your PIN
  • your email address

Start with the U of T catalogue

  • Search for the item in the catalogue, select 'details', then 'request item', then follow onscreen instructions.
  • Be sure to include your email address. You will be notified by email when your material is ready for pickup.
  • If you wish, print out this mini 'how-to' guide (courtesy of Gerstein Science Information Centre).

If you can't find the item in the catalogue

  • Register for RACER - once only - to request an item from a library outside U of T.
  • Sign on to RACER using your barcode and PIN.
  • Submit your request, either by searching the catalogues in RACER, or through 'my account' - 'blank request form'.
  • There is a $30 fee for each item borrowed from an external library (as of September 1, 2010)
